- Go to the Software Download Site and log in with your HawkID and password
- Select Read&Write from the options
- Under the Macintosh section, choose Read&Write Gold 7.1
- Open the file RWGold_7.1.dmg and drag the Read&Write logo to the Applications folder
- If asked for administrative credentials, select Authenticate and then enter your admin username and password
- Read&Write Gold will begin to install. Once complete, navigate to Finder and then open Applications and then open Read&Write. If prompted if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet, choose Open
- Accept the User Terms
- When prompted to log in, choose Sign in with Microsoft
- When asked for your email, enter your [email protected] in that format
- When at the HawkID login, it will auto-fill your [email protected], keep that and enter your password and verify your login through Duo Two-Step Security
- If prompted to allow permissions for your Microsoft account to be used with Read&Write, select Accept
- You can now use Read&Write Gold on your Mac
On your Mac, select an item, then choose File Get Info. Click the lock icon to unlock it. Enter an administrator name and password. In the Sharing & Permissions section, do any of the following: Add a user or group: Click the Add button below the list, select a user or group, then click Select. Remove a user or group: Select the user or group, then click the Remove button below the list.
Feb 04, 2019 The original file has Read & Write permission for me, my husband, system, wheel and everyone but the Saved As file has Read & Write for me, Read Only for wheel and everyone and my husband isn't listed at all on this new file. If you encounter the below error when trying to download and install Read&Write Gold for Mac from the Software Download Site, there is a security setting that needs to be adjusted to allow the file to be downloaded properly to a Mac computer. The following two guides for macOS 10.12 or newer or macOS 10.11 or older, will temporarily disable your Macs security settings and allow the successful download and installation of Read&Write Gold.
Note: You must be logged in with an administrator account for the following processes, please contact your local IT if attempting installation on a departmental computer.
Guide #1: macOS 10.12 Sierra or newer
Read Write Permission Codes
- Open Finder and go to Applications > Utilities
- In the Utilities folder, locate Terminal
- In Terminal type the following command: sudo spctl --master-disable
- Enter your password
- Click on the System Preferences icon
- Go to Security & Privacy
- Click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes
- On the General tab under Allow application downloaded from select Anywhere
- Click Allow from anywhere when prompted, then close the Security & Privacy window
You will now be able to run Read&Write for Mac. Note: Once Read&Write has been installed and activated successfully,it is recommended that you reset the Security & Privacy settings.
To reset the Security and Privacy settings:
- Open Finder and go to Applications > Utilities
- In the Utilities folder, locate Terminal
- In Terminal type the following command: sudo spctl --master-enable
The Mac OS X Security and Privacy settings should now be reset back to the default setting.
Guide #2: macOS 10.11 El Capitan or older
- Click on the System Preferences icon
- Go to Security & Privacy
- Click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes
- On the General tab under Allow application downloaded from: select Anywhere
- Click Allow from anywhere when prompted, then close the Security & Privacy window
- You will now be able to download and Install Read&Write Gold for Mac. Once Read&Write Gold has been successfully activated, you can reset Allow applications downloaded from: back to App Store and identified developers by following the same steps outlined above.

When Read&Write for Google Chrome is added to your Chrome profile, the permissions page should appear first time you try to use Read&Write for Google Chrome on the web, Google Slides or Google Docs.
If permissions for Read&Write haven't been fully granted or canceled, the purple puzzle piece icon to the right of the Chrome address bar may not appear or be greyed out.
If the purple puzzle piece icon and tab appear and the toolbar doesn't open in a Google Doc, Slide or web page, it's also likely that the permissions page was canceled, closed, or not accepted.
The first step is to check to see if Read&Write by Texthelp appears in your Chrome account. To do this follow the steps below in Checking Permissions.

Mac Read Write Permissions For Mac
If Read&Write by Texthelp does appear then it's likely not all required permissions were granted. At this point it's necessary to remove permissions by following the steps below in Removing Permissions.
Removing Permissions
To remove permissions for Read&Write for Google Chrome select Read&Write by Texthelp then click the Remove Access button to revoke permissions.
A dialog box will appear asking to confirm removal, click OK and repeat for any other instances for Read&Write for Googleand/or Read&Write for Google Chrome
Then go to a web page, Google Doc or Slide and click the purple puzzle piece to use Read&Write. Then follow the steps below in Granting Permissions.

Click on the purple puzzle piece icon next to the Chrome address bar or open a Google Doc or Slide and click on the purple puzzle piece on the Read&Write for Google Chrome toolbar

You will first be prompted to choose a Chrome account then to grant access to the extension
Click the Allow button when prompted.

You will also be prompted to add the Screenshot Reader extension when using that feature and the Texthelp PDF Reader extension when opening PDFs
